In Tanzania, every journey brings a new possibility, from the endless golden plains of the Serengeti to the breathtaking beauty of the Ngorongoro Crater. Watch elephants wander across the savannah, encounter lions in their natural habitat, and witness the magic of Africa unfold around you, one unforgettable moment at a time.
At Back to Eden Adventure, we create meaningful solo safari holidays for travellers who want to explore Africa with freedom, comfort, and confidence. Whether you dream of witnessing the Great Migration, enjoying peaceful moments in the wilderness, connecting with local cultures, or ending your adventure on the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar, we help you turn your travel dreams into reality. Travel at your own pace, discover what moves you, and experience Africa in a way that is entirely your own.

A solo safari is more than a holiday; it is an opportunity to discover new places, embrace your independence, and create unforgettable memories on your own terms. From extraordinary wildlife encounters to meaningful cultural connections, travelling solo allows you to experience Africa in a way that feels personal, rewarding, and entirely your own.
Travel at your own pace, choose the experiences that excite you, and spend more time discovering what you love. Whether you want to watch elephants at sunrise or enjoy a quiet moment overlooking the savannah, your journey is yours to shape.
Stepping into the unknown gives you space to grow, build confidence, and see the world from a new perspective. Every new experience, challenge, and discovery becomes part of a personal journey that stays with you long after you return home.
From lions resting in the golden grass to elephants crossing open plains, a solo safari brings you closer to the natural world. Without the distractions of everyday life, you can slow down, appreciate the little details, and fully immerse yourself in Africa’s extraordinary wilderness.
Travelling solo creates opportunities to meet fellow travellers, learn from local communities, and discover the traditions that make every destination unique. From sharing stories around the campfire to experiencing Tanzania’s rich cultural heritage, these connections can become some of your most treasured memories.
Travelling alone does not mean managing every detail yourself. With Back to Eden Adventure, you can enjoy carefully planned safari experiences, professional local guides, and organised travel arrangements, giving you more freedom to explore while feeling supported throughout your journey.
For your first solo safari, we recommend Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit. Explore the Serengeti for incredible wildlife encounters, Ngorongoro Crater for breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife, and Tarangire for its impressive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. Choose a private safari for a more personal experience or join a small-group safari to meet fellow travellers. Our advice is to select destinations that match your interests, travel with a professional guide, and leave enough time to enjoy every moment without rushing.
Discover unforgettable experiences chosen for solo travellers who want to explore Africa at their own pace. From thrilling wildlife safaris and guided nature walks to meaningful cultural encounters and peaceful escapes on Zanzibar’s beaches, find the experiences that make your journey personal, inspiring, and truly unforgettable.
Rise before the world begins to stir and discover Africa from an extraordinary new perspective. As your hot air balloon gently lifts into the early morning sky, the first light of day begins to reveal the landscape below—golden savannahs, winding rivers, ancient trees, forests, and wildlife moving quietly through the wilderness. From above, the vastness of Africa takes on a whole new beauty, creating a peaceful and unforgettable way to experience the wild. As the balloon drifts naturally with the morning breeze, there are no roads to follow and no engine to disturb the silence. Far below, you may watch elephants moving across the plains, herds gathering in open grasslands, giraffes weaving between trees, or other wildlife beginning their day. With Back to Eden Adventure, the experience is carefully arranged to let you appreciate these moments at a gentle pace, combining breathtaking views with the tranquillity of floating above the wilderness as Africa awakens beneath you. There is something magical about watching the sunrise from the sky, surrounded by open horizons and the sounds of nature far below. Whether you are sharing the experience with someone special, discovering Africa as a solo traveller, or creating a memorable moment with family and friends, a hot air balloon safari can become one of the defining memories of your journey. It is not simply a flight above the landscape—it is a chance to see Africa from a perspective few experiences can offer and to carry that feeling with you long after you return to the ground.
Set out into the African wilderness in a specially designed 4x4 safari vehicle, with a pop-up roof giving you an open view of the landscapes and wildlife around you. A game drive is an invitation to slow down and experience nature as it unfolds—elephants moving through the grasslands, giraffes appearing between the trees, herds gathering across the plains, and predators quietly moving through their surroundings. Every drive brings something different, shaped by the season, the landscape, and the unpredictable rhythm of wildlife. With Back to Eden Adventure, every game drive is led by an experienced safari guide with a deep understanding of the places you visit. Your guide helps you recognise wildlife, understand animal behaviour, identify tracks, and discover the smaller details that make each landscape unique. From stopping to watch a herd of elephants to spending a quiet moment observing predators or capturing the perfect photograph, the experience unfolds naturally, giving you time to appreciate every encounter. Some of Africa's most beautiful memories happen when nothing is planned—the sudden appearance of a lion, elephants crossing the road, a herd of zebra moving across the golden savannah, or the warm evening light settling over the wilderness. A game drive safari gives you the freedom to experience these moments as they happen, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of Africa. With Back to Eden Adventure, every journey is thoughtfully planned to bring together exceptional wildlife, beautiful landscapes, knowledgeable guiding, comfort, and the simple joy of being present in the wild.
Step beyond the landscapes and wildlife of Tanzania and discover the people, traditions, and stories that have shaped life across East Africa for generations. A Maasai cultural experience offers an opportunity to spend meaningful time with Maasai communities, learn about their traditional way of life, and experience a culture that remains deeply connected to land, family, livestock, and community. From traditional homes and daily customs to music, dance, clothing, and storytelling, every encounter offers a glimpse into a living culture rather than something simply displayed for visitors. With Back to Eden Adventure, cultural experiences are arranged with respect, authenticity, and genuine human connection at their heart. Depending on the community and location, you may meet local Maasai families, learn about their traditional homes and livestock, hear stories passed down through generations, and discover the significance behind their distinctive clothing, jewellery, songs, and dances. Your local guide helps create meaningful conversations and provides context, allowing you to understand the traditions you encounter while giving the community space to share its culture in its own way. What makes a Maasai cultural experience truly memorable is the human connection. Sharing a conversation, listening to stories, learning a traditional song, or simply sitting together and seeing the world through another perspective can become one of the most meaningful moments of a Tanzania safari. Back to Eden Adventure believes that travelling is not only about seeing beautiful places, but also about meeting people and understanding the cultures that give those places their soul. This experience offers a chance to leave Tanzania with more than photographs—with stories, connections, and a deeper appreciation for its people.
Tanzania offers endless moments worth capturing, from lions resting beneath acacia trees and elephants crossing open plains to colourful birds, dramatic landscapes, and golden sunsets over the wilderness. A photographic safari gives you the time and space to observe these moments closely and capture them through your own perspective. Across Tanzania's national parks, conservation areas, and diverse landscapes, every journey brings new opportunities to create images that tell the story of your adventure. With Back to Eden Adventure, your safari journey is guided by professional photographic safari guides who understand both wildlife and the art of capturing it. You also travel in specially designed safari vehicles suited for photography, giving you better opportunities to position yourself for wildlife sightings, enjoy clear viewing angles, and photograph comfortably throughout the day. Whether you are using professional camera equipment, a compact camera, or a smartphone, your guide helps you make the most of every opportunity while giving you time to observe without rushing. The most meaningful photographs are often created in moments that cannot be planned—the golden light of sunrise, a herd moving across the savannah, a bird taking flight, or a quiet wildlife encounter that lasts only a few seconds. A photographic safari allows you to slow down, watch carefully, and become part of the moment before capturing it. Whether photography is your passion or simply a way to preserve the memories of your safari, Tanzania provides an extraordinary setting for creating photographs you will treasure long after your journey.
There are few moments in the African wilderness as powerful as watching thousands of wildebeest gather at the edge of a river, waiting for the moment to move. Each year, the Great Migration carries vast herds of wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and gazelles, across the Serengeti ecosystem in search of fresh grazing and water. In northern Tanzania, the Mara River becomes one of the most dramatic stages of this journey, creating an extraordinary wildlife experience shaped entirely by nature. The anticipation is part of the experience. Herds may gather along the riverbank, hesitate, move away, and return before eventually making the decision to cross. When they do, the scene can transform in seconds as hundreds or thousands of animals descend into the water and make their way to the opposite bank. Dust rises from the surrounding plains, the river comes alive with movement, and predators and crocodiles can add another dimension to the natural drama. From your safari vehicle, your experienced guide helps you understand what is unfolding while ensuring the animals are given the space required by park regulations. A migration crossing is not something that can be scheduled like an ordinary activity. It is a moment you patiently wait for and one that may happen when nature decides the time is right. With Back to Eden Adventure, your private safari can be planned around the northern Serengeti during the migration season, giving you the opportunity to spend time in the right areas and follow the movement of the herds. The experience is as much about the anticipation, landscape, and atmosphere as it is about the crossing itself.
A night game drive reveals a completely different side of the African wilderness. As the sun disappears and darkness settles across the landscape, the bush becomes quieter, mysterious, and full of movement. With a skilled guide and spotlight leading the way, you may encounter animals that are rarely seen during the day, from elusive leopards and nocturnal cats to hyenas, bush babies, porcupines, and other creatures of the night. The experience is about more than simply seeing wildlife. It is the feeling of being deep in the wilderness after sunset, surrounded by darkness and the sounds of the African bush. A pair of glowing eyes in the distance, the call of a nocturnal animal, or the sudden appearance of a predator can turn an ordinary evening into one of the most memorable moments of your journey. For those who want to experience Tanzania beyond the traditional daytime safari, a night game drive adds a sense of adventure and discovery to the journey. It offers a rare opportunity to witness the wilderness as it truly is after dark, when different species emerge and the rhythm of the landscape changes completely.
Step into the narrow streets of Stone Town, where centuries of history, culture, and island life come together. A walking tour takes you through a fascinating maze of historic buildings, carved wooden doors, lively markets, and quiet corners, revealing the stories that have shaped Zanzibar and its people. As you explore with a local guide, discover the influences of African, Arab, Indian, and European cultures that have left their mark on the town. Visit the bustling Darajani Market, admire the intricate architecture of historic buildings, and wander through streets filled with local life. Along the way, you can discover important landmarks and hear stories of Zanzibar's trading history, spices, sultans, and the communities that have called Stone Town home. Stone Town is best experienced on foot, slowly and without rushing. Beyond its landmarks, it is the atmosphere that makes the experience memorable — the sound of the streets, the scent of spices, the beauty of its old doors, and the warmth of everyday island life. It is a cultural journey that brings another dimension to your time in Zanzibar.
Set out into the crystal-clear waters surrounding Mnemba Island for an unforgettable snorkeling experience in one of Zanzibar’s most beautiful marine environments. Just beneath the surface, vibrant coral reefs, colourful tropical fish, and the rich marine life of the Indian Ocean create a spectacular underwater world waiting to be explored. As you glide through the warm turquoise waters, discover coral gardens alive with movement and colour. Depending on the conditions and season, you may encounter sea turtles, reef fish, starfish, and other fascinating marine creatures. The calm beauty of the ocean and the clarity of the water make every moment beneath the surface feel like entering another world. Mnemba Island snorkeling is more than a water activity — it is a chance to experience the natural beauty of Zanzibar from a completely different perspective. With the sun above, turquoise waters around you, and an extraordinary reef beneath your feet, it is a beautiful addition to any Zanzibar beach journey.
From unforgettable wildlife encounters to authentic cultural experiences, discover more ways to experience the magic of Tanzania. Your next extraordinary adventure awaits.
At Back to Eden Adventure, we create personalized safari journeys designed around your interests, travel style, and budget, helping you discover Tanzania’s remarkable wildlife and landscapes with confidence.

Baraza offers just 30 exceptionally spacious private-pool villas, creating a sense of seclusion throughout the resort. Each villa reflects classic Swahili architecture and combines generous living spaces with elegant bedrooms, freestanding bathtubs, dressing areas and private outdoor spaces. From intimate one-bedroom villas to the magnificent 254-square-metre Royal Beach Two-Bedroom Villa, every stay is designed around privacy, space and effortless comfort.
The resort’s culinary experience moves effortlessly between elegant dining and relaxed island living. Guests can begin the day at Livingstone Terrace, enjoy beachfront and poolside moments at Ocean Lounge, take afternoon tea at the Chai Lounge or dress for an evening at The Sultan’s Dining Room. At Dhahabu Bar & Lounge, the atmosphere becomes more intimate, while menus draw inspiration from Zanzibar’s spices and a fusion of Swahili, Indian, Persian, Asian and Continental flavours.
At the heart of the resort, the Frangipani Spa offers a beautiful expression of Zanzibar’s natural heritage, with treatments inspired by warm shoreline sand, cloves, coconut and tropical flowers. Beyond the resort, guests can discover coral reefs, sail on a traditional dhow, explore Jozani Forest, visit a spice farm, learn the secrets of Swahili cuisine or simply walk the endless Bwejuu shoreline. For Back to Eden Adventure guests, Baraza is the perfect place to end a safari journey — where the excitement of Tanzania gives way to warm Indian Ocean waters, timeless architecture and complete relaxation.
Set between the slopes of Ol Doinyo Lengai and the shores of Lake Natron, Natron River Camp offers a secluded escape into one of northern Tanzania’s most extraordinary landscapes. Far from the busy safari routes, the camp places you beneath the presence of an active volcano, surrounded by the raw beauty of the Great Rift Valley. Here, the wilderness feels vast, elemental, and wonderfully untouched.
The camp features just nine luxury tented rooms, shaded naturally by surrounding greenery and designed to offer a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration. Accommodation includes single, twin, double, triple, and family options, with selected rooms offering spacious en-suite bathrooms and private verandas. The intimate scale of the camp creates a peaceful atmosphere where guests can slow down and feel genuinely connected to the landscape.
At the heart of the camp, a swimming pool and sunset terrace create beautiful places to unwind while taking in views toward Ol Doinyo Lengai. A restaurant and bar provide relaxed dining throughout your stay, with chefs able to accommodate dietary requirements, while attentive service ensures that even in this remote setting, comfort remains part of the experience.
Beyond the camp, Lake Natron reveals a different side of Tanzania. Walk through the surrounding wilderness to discover waterfalls, watch flamingos across the alkaline lake, or venture higher on an unforgettable climb of Ol Doinyo Lengai, reaching the summit as the first light spreads across the Rift Valley. For Back to Eden Adventure guests, Natron River Camp is more than a place to stay — it is a gateway to a wild and deeply atmospheric Tanzania.
Set between the dramatic walls of the Great Rift Valley and the vast expanse of Lake Eyasi, Ziwani Lodge is a deeply atmospheric retreat shaped by landscape, culture and light. From the moment you pass through its carved North African-style doors, the lodge feels like another world — a place where African and Arabic influences, local materials and stories of the surrounding communities come together in harmony with the wilderness.
The lodge’s ensuite cottages are reached along winding stone pathways and surrounded by palms, acacia and the colours of the dry Rift Valley landscape. Built with locally sourced materials, the cottages feature high ceilings, writing desks, ceiling fans and large wooden shutters that open towards the landscape and Lake Eyasi. The result is an intimate sense of space where natural light, warm textures and the surrounding wilderness become part of the stay.
At the heart of Ziwani, generous verandahs and quiet spaces invite guests to slow down and take in the Yaida Valley. The swimming pool offers a peaceful refuge from the heat, while meals are prepared as a private experience, using fresh, home-cooked and locally sourced ingredients. As evening falls, the rooftop becomes a beautiful place for sundowners, where the lake catches the last golden light and the surrounding wilderness gradually settles into silence.
Yet Ziwani’s greatest luxury is the opportunity to experience a world beyond the usual safari. Walk through the extraordinary landscapes around Lake Eyasi, fish along its shores, spend time with the Hadzabe on a wilderness walk or fly-camp beneath the African sky, and discover the craftsmanship of the Datoga people. For Back to Eden Adventure guests, Ziwani offers something rare — a journey where nature, culture, ancient traditions and human connection become part of the adventure itself.
Perched on the remote northwestern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, Entamanu Ngorongoro offers a wonderfully wild interpretation of life on the crater edge. From this extraordinary position, views stretch across the immense caldera in one direction and towards the endless Serengeti plains in the other. Surrounded by ancient acacia trees and the rhythms of Maasai pastoral life, the camp feels beautifully removed from the ordinary.
The camp’s spacious cottage-style rooms are raised on wooden platforms and designed as warm, cosy refuges from the elements. Every room enjoys panoramic views into the crater, with private verandas providing an extraordinary place to watch the changing light across the landscape. Interiors are locally sourced and crafted by Tanzanian artisans, blending natural materials, colourful Maasai influences and understated elegance. Two-bedroom family tents provide additional space for families or friends travelling together.
At the heart of Entamanu, the central lounge creates a relaxed gathering place where guests can retreat around the fire after a day in the wilderness. Locally crafted furnishings, warm textures and thoughtful details give the camp a genuine sense of place, while the surrounding verandas invite long afternoons overlooking the crater. As night falls, the enormous African sky becomes part of the experience, with evenings spent beneath the stars on the edge of this ancient volcanic landscape.
The experiences here go far beyond a traditional crater safari. Guests can descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for extraordinary wildlife encounters, walk along the crater rim with a Nomad guide and local Maasai, explore the surrounding highlands, encounter giraffe near camp, meet Maasai communities and enjoy sundowners overlooking the Serengeti plains. For Back to Eden Adventure guests, Entamanu is more than accommodation — it is an intimate invitation to slow down, breathe deeply and experience Ngorongoro on your own terms.
In the heart of Central Serengeti, Nyota Luxury Tented Camp offers an enchanting retreat where the timeless beauty of the African wilderness meets the comforts of refined safari living. Set beside the meandering Orangi River in Seronera, the camp places you close to the extraordinary wildlife and landscapes that define Tanzania, while creating a peaceful haven to return to after a day of exploration. From the gentle sounds of nature to the changing colours of the savannah, every moment invites you to slow down and embrace the magic of Africa.
Nyota’s spacious luxury tents are thoughtfully designed for comfort, privacy, and a close connection to the surrounding wilderness. Each accommodation features a high-end en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, a private veranda with comfortable loungers, and beautiful views of the savannah. Warm, tasteful interiors, inviting beds protected by mosquito nets, and the gentle atmosphere of the camp create a place where rest feels as memorable as adventure. The experience is complemented by welcoming communal spaces, a swimming pool, a restaurant, and a lounge where guests can relax and share the stories of their safari.
What makes Nyota truly special is its intimate setting and the sense of being immersed in the wild. Guests can enjoy exceptional game drives, private dining, sundowners, and the unforgettable perspective of a hot air balloon safari. Whether watching the first light of day across the plains, listening to the sounds of the river, or enjoying a quiet evening beneath the stars, Nyota offers the kind of authentic luxury that stays with you long after your journey ends. Back to Eden Adventures recommends this beautiful camp for travellers seeking an elegant, intimate, and deeply memorable Serengeti experience.
Nestled beside the Ngorongoro Forest Reserve, Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by the rich green landscape of a working coffee plantation. From the lodge, views extend across the coffee estate towards the forest, creating a setting where the scents of freshly grown coffee, cool highland air and the sounds of nature become part of the experience. It is a beautiful place to slow down between adventures in the Ngorongoro region.
The lodge features 26 spacious cottages, including three two-room family suites. Each cottage combines handcrafted furnishings with generous living space, a private veranda and a warming fireplace. Large beds beneath mosquito netting, comfortable seating areas, writing desks and beautifully appointed bathrooms with slipper-style bathtubs and both indoor and outdoor showers create a sense of understated luxury, while the private verandas open towards the coffee plantation and Ngorongoro Forest.
After a day exploring the crater and surrounding wilderness, guests can retreat to the swimming pool, enjoy a relaxing treatment at the spa or simply settle into the peaceful surroundings. The restaurant provides full-board dining, while the lodge’s intimate spaces invite guests to slow down and enjoy the cool highland atmosphere. Wi-Fi and room service add modern convenience without taking away from the sense of escape.
The experience extends beyond the cottages. Guided walks allow guests to discover the surrounding landscape, while the working coffee plantation provides a distinctive connection to the land and its produce. With its proximity to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the lodge also makes an elegant base for exploring one of Tanzania’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations. For Back to Eden Adventure guests, Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge offers a beautiful pause between safari adventures — where the wilderness gives way to coffee gardens, fireplaces and quiet evenings beneath the forest.
Everything You Need to Know
Planning a solo safari should feel exciting, not overwhelming. Find answers to common questions about travelling alone in Tanzania, from safety and costs to choosing your destinations and experiences. With Back to Eden Adventure, you can plan your journey with confidence and look forward to an unforgettable African adventure.
Yes, Tanzania can be a wonderful destination for solo travellers when the right arrangements are in place. Travelling with a professional safari guide, booking trusted accommodation, and organising reliable transfers can help you enjoy your adventure with greater confidence and peace of mind.
Absolutely! You can book a safari on your own, whether you prefer a private safari with your own guide and vehicle or a small-group safari where you can share the experience with other travellers.
The cost depends on your destinations, travel season, accommodation choices, and safari style. Private safaris may cost more per person because you cover the vehicle and guide costs yourself, while small-group safaris can offer a more budget-friendly option.
Not always. Some lodges and safari camps charge extra for single occupancy, while others offer special rates for solo travellers. The additional cost depends on the property, season, and package, so it is worth checking when planning your safari.
The Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park are excellent choices for wildlife enthusiasts. Lake Manyara is another rewarding stop, while Zanzibar is ideal for relaxing on the beach after your safari adventure.
A private safari is ideal if you value flexibility, privacy, and a personalised experience. A group safari is a great choice if you want to meet other travellers and potentially reduce costs. The best option depends on your budget and preferred travel style.
Tanzania offers rewarding safari experiences throughout the year. The dry season, generally from June to October, is popular for wildlife viewing, while the green season brings lush landscapes, fewer visitors in some areas, and excellent birdwatching opportunities. The best time depends on your interests and the experiences you wish to enjoy.
Pack lightweight, neutral-coloured clothing, comfortable walking shoes, a sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera. Bring personal medication, travel documents, and any essential electronics. A light jacket is useful for cool mornings and evenings, especially in the Ngorongoro Highlands.
Our guests leave with more than memories—they leave with stories to share and moments they will never forget. With 5-star reviews from travellers around the world, we are proud to create journeys filled with genuine care, unforgettable experiences, and the beauty of Tanzania.
